I am preparing for a cycling trip through Africa.
What begins here has grown out of past journeys – through dust, heat and encounters.
10,000 kilometres to Morocco and back have left their mark –
days of scorching heat, nights in the wind, fuelled by passion and dedication. And the feeling of being completely absorbed in it all.
I have often asked myself why I do this.
I never found an answer.
But there was something else:
a quiet, unwavering certainty to keep going.
As if something were guiding me.
An invisible thread that I follow.
The yearning that keeps me going
Something new emerges from these experiences.
This summer, another journey begins – cycling through Africa.
Less a setting out, more a continuing on.
A longing that has been with me for a long time,
a feeling I cannot ignore.
So I follow it.

It’s all about drinking, eating, and finding a place to spend the night.
And about the encounters along the way.
Perhaps it is precisely this simplicity that keeps drawing me out into the world.
